Surgical showdown: microscope vs. loupes in fight against transplant complications

NCT ID NCT04618692

Summary

This study aimed to find the best surgical tool for connecting bile ducts during living donor liver transplants. Researchers compared using a high-powered microscope to standard surgical magnifying glasses (loupes) in 52 patients. The goal was to see which method led to fewer bile duct problems, like leaks or blockages, in the year after surgery.
