New scan could spare patients from invasive liver biopsies

NCT ID NCT00243633

Summary

This study tested a special type of ultrasound scan (CEUS) to see if it could better identify unusual spots found on the liver. Researchers wanted to know if this method could provide clearer answers without needing more expensive scans or invasive biopsies. They enrolled 878 people who had a liver lesion that was seen on a regular scan but not clearly identified.
