New ultrasound technique may spare patients unnecessary liver biopsies

Summary
This study tested a special ultrasound (CEUS) that uses a contrast dye to get clearer images of liver spots found on regular ultrasound. The goal was to see if CEUS can accurately tell if a spot is cancerous or not, potentially avoiding the need for more expensive or invasive tests like CT scans, MRIs, or needle biopsies. Nearly 900 adults with liver spots took part, and researchers looked at how well CEUS worked and whether it saved money.
