French hospital tests new scan to spare kids painful liver biopsies

NCT ID NCT07303140

Summary

This study is looking at whether a painless ultrasound scan (elastography) can reliably measure liver scarring in children and young adults with a rare genetic disorder called Glycogen Storage Disease Type III (GSDIII). Researchers will review the medical records of 30 patients who have already had this scan to see how well it works for monitoring their condition. The goal is to gather evidence so doctors can use this safer, non-invasive test instead of painful liver biopsies for routine check-ups.
