NCT ID NCT07153926
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at 100 children with beta-thalassemia major and iron overload to see which tests best detect liver scarring. Researchers compared blood markers (ferritin, hepcidin) and non-invasive scores (APRI, FIB-4) against a special ultrasound (FibroScan). The goal was to find a simpler, more accurate way to diagnose liver fibrosis without a biopsy.
