Blood-Cleaning machine tested as lifeline for critically ill liver patients
NCT ID NCT06562803
Summary
This study is testing a two-step blood filtering treatment for people with sudden liver failure on top of chronic liver disease who also have a severe bloodstream infection (sepsis). Researchers want to see if this procedure, which removes harmful inflammatory substances from the blood, can help patients survive longer and improve organ function. About 60 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the new filtering treatment or a standard plasma exchange treatment.
