Summary

This study tested a special ultrasound machine that measures liver stiffness without surgery. Researchers wanted to see if this painless scan could replace invasive liver biopsies for diagnosing liver disease and monitoring heart failure patients. The study involved over 1,200 adults with liver conditions or heart failure who received the scan during regular clinic visits.
