Scientists probe mysterious liver damage in heart patients

Summary
This study aims to understand why and how serious liver scarring develops in adults who had a Fontan procedure for congenital heart disease. Researchers will observe 100 participants over time, collecting blood, stool, and liver tissue samples to identify new markers of disease severity. The goal is to learn how liver congestion leads to damage and improve future monitoring and treatment decisions.
