Scientists search for hidden bacteria in damaged livers
NCT ID NCT06307964
Summary
This study aims to understand if and how bacteria from the gut travel to the liver in people with severe alcoholic hepatitis, a life-threatening liver condition. Researchers will analyze bacteria from liver tissue, blood, and stool samples of 50 patients. The goal is to see if specific bacteria patterns are linked to how sick patients get or how they respond to current steroid treatments, which could point to new ways to fight the disease.
