Blood test could spot testicular cancer earlier
NCT ID NCT07376096
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study explores whether a liquid biopsy—a blood test that looks for tumor DNA and micro RNA—can detect and monitor testicular germ cell tumors. Researchers will collect blood samples from 200 men with stage I or metastatic testicular cancer at several time points during treatment. The goal is to see if this test can help diagnose the disease and predict outcomes, especially for patients who do not have standard tumor markers.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
liquid biopsy (blood test for circulating tumor DNA and micro RNA)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simple blood test to detect and monitor testicular cancer, especially for patients who lack standard tumor markers.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 200 participants, and the test may not be accurate enough to replace current methods. It is not yet proven to work in routine care.
