New study aims to find the best dose of long-lasting numbing medicine for knee surgery pain

NCT ID NCT06740214

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests three different doses of a long-acting numbing medicine (liposomal bupivacaine) injected into a nerve block in the thigh to control pain after total knee replacement. About 177 adults having robotic knee surgery will be randomly assigned to receive one of the doses or a placebo. The goal is to find which dose best reduces pain and the need for opioid painkillers in the first week after surgery.
