First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested a long-acting numbing medicine called liposomal bupivacaine (Exparel) to control pain after hernia repair surgery. Nineteen adults having open or laparoscopic hernia repair received the drug, and researchers measured their satisfaction with pain control and time spent in the recovery room. The goal was to see if this single injection could improve comfort and reduce the need for other pain medicines after surgery.
