First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested a special ultrasound technique called shear wave elastography to see if it can measure tissue stiffness in the legs and belly of women with lipedema. Lipedema is a painful condition where fat builds up unevenly in the legs, and it's often misdiagnosed. Researchers compared 95 women with and without lipedema to find out if this tool could help doctors tell the difference.
