New heart trial aims to improve rhythm control for persistent AF patients
NCT ID NCT07106970
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study compares two heart procedures for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat). One group gets the standard treatment (pulmonary vein isolation) plus an extra step (linear ablation), while the other gets standard treatment alone. The goal is to see which approach better keeps the heart in normal rhythm without needing more procedures or long-term medication. About 640 adults aged 18 to 80 with symptomatic, drug-resistant persistent AF will take part.
