First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests a low-level light therapy mask for dry eye disease in people with Graves' eye disease who haven't improved with standard treatments. Thirty adults will receive either the real light therapy or a sham device. The goal is to see if the treatment improves tear film stability and reduces symptoms over three months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Low-level light therapy (LLLT) via a periocular mask
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a non-drug option to ease dry eye symptoms in people with Graves' disease who haven't gotten relief from standard treatments.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small early study with only 30 people. The sham device still gives 30% power, so the real effect may be small. Results may not apply to everyone with dry eye.
