Can diet and exercise stop Alzheimer's before it starts?
NCT ID NCT03688126
Summary
This study tested whether a 2-year program of healthy lifestyle changes could protect memory and thinking skills in older adults at risk for Alzheimer's disease. It enrolled 2,000 sedentary older adults with poor diets and other risk factors, who were randomly assigned to follow an intensive program combining physical exercise, nutritional guidance, brain training, social activities, and heart health management. The goal was to see if this multi-part lifestyle intervention, adapted from a successful Finnish study, could slow or prevent cognitive decline in Americans.
