Summary

This study followed 65 rectal cancer patients for one year after they had surgery to reconnect their bowel. The goal was to understand how bowel function problems after surgery affect patients' daily lives and quality of life. By tracking symptoms and complications, researchers aimed to identify factors that predict difficult recoveries to help guide future patient care decisions.
