First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study is testing whether adding leucine, a common amino acid found in food, to standard chemotherapy and radiation can help shrink tumors more effectively in people with locally advanced rectal cancer. About 33 adults will receive leucine alongside their usual treatment before surgery. The goal is to see if this combination leads to a higher rate of complete tumor disappearance, potentially reducing the risk of cancer coming back.
