Cancer bone drug trial: can fewer shots work just as well?

Summary

This large, late-stage trial is testing if a drug that helps prevent painful bone complications in people with metastatic breast or prostate cancer is just as effective when given every 12 weeks instead of the standard every 4 weeks. The goal is to see if the less frequent schedule can maintain the same protection against bone fractures and other issues while potentially reducing treatment burden and side effects. The study will involve over 1,300 participants who have cancer that has spread to their bones.
