Bone marrow fat hormone may reveal chemo resistance in leukemia
NCT ID NCT07163728
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a hormone called leptin, found in bone marrow, can predict how well chemotherapy works in adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Researchers will measure leptin levels in bone marrow samples from 86 newly diagnosed patients before treatment and compare them to their response rates. The goal is to find a way to identify drug resistance early and improve treatment outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors predict which AML patients will respond to chemotherapy, allowing for more personalized treatment plans.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study with only 86 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. It does not test a new treatment, only a potential marker.
