Lemon balm scent may ease Kids' dental fear

NCT ID NCT07592130

First seen May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether inhaling lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) essential oil can reduce anxiety and pain in children aged 6-10 during dental numbing injections. 45 kids will be randomly assigned to receive aromatherapy with one of two brands of the oil or standard care. Researchers will measure anxiety, pain behavior, and heart rate to see if this simple, non-invasive approach makes dental visits less stressful.
