Leg scan could solve tricky blood clot diagnosis puzzle

NCT ID NCT05413317

Summary

This study tested whether adding an ultrasound scan of the legs could help doctors better diagnose recurring blood clots in the lungs. When patients with previous clots return with symptoms, standard chest scans often can't tell old damage from new clots. Researchers compared leg ultrasound results with standard tests in 115 hospitalized patients to see if finding leg clots could confirm a new lung clot episode.
