New balloon treatment aims to save limbs from amputation

Summary
This study is testing whether a special balloon coated with a drug (sirolimus) works better than a standard balloon to treat severe blockages in the small arteries below the knee. It involves 230 patients with advanced peripheral artery disease who are at risk of limb loss. The main goal is to see if the drug-coated balloon keeps the artery open longer and helps prevent amputations over six months.
