Computer alerts could boost cholesterol treatment in heart patients

Summary
This study tests whether electronic alerts in medical records help doctors prescribe stronger cholesterol-lowering medications for heart disease patients with high LDL levels. About 400 adults with heart or blood vessel disease and LDL over 80 mg/dL, already on a statin, are randomly assigned to receive the alert or not. The goal is to see if alerts lead to better medication choices and lower cholesterol at follow-up.
