Summary
This study tested whether adding an intravenous clot-busting drug (tenecteplase) before a standard surgical procedure to remove a clot is better than the surgery alone. It involved 391 adults who had a stroke caused by a blockage in a major brain artery and arrived for treatment 4.5 to 24 hours after symptoms began. The main goal was to see if the two-step approach led to better recovery and less disability 90 days later.
