First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a transanal (through the anus) pathway to standard laparoscopic pelvic pouch surgery could improve outcomes for patients with ulcerative colitis or familial adenomatous polyposis. The researchers compared 22 patients who had the new approach with 17 who had traditional surgery. They looked at rates of complications, hospital stay, and bowel function two years after surgery.
