Needle-Free numbing gel may ease stitching pain for adults in the ER

NCT ID NCT07480135

First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special gel (LAT gel) applied to cuts causes less pain than the standard numbing shot (lidocaine) during wound repair. 70 adults with simple cuts in the emergency department took part. The goal was to see if the gel could make the numbing process itself less painful while still controlling pain during stitching.
