Laser vs. IPL: which zaps red scars best?
NCT ID NCT07599709
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested two light-based treatments—long-pulsed ND:YAG laser and intense pulsed light (IPL)—on red scars from injuries or surgery. Forty people with scars on the head or neck received four sessions, one month apart. The goal was to see which treatment reduces redness more safely and effectively.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Long-pulsed ND:YAG laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show which light treatment works better for reducing redness in new scars on the head and neck.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 40 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares two existing treatments, not a new breakthrough.
