Laser or gel? new study tests better healing for Children's tooth extractions
NCT ID NCT07205640
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will compare two treatments—low-level laser therapy and hyaluronic acid gel—to see which helps children's gums heal better after removing a badly decayed first permanent molar. Thirty-six children aged 6 to 10 will receive one of the treatments right after extraction. Researchers will measure wound size, gum color, bleeding, and pus over time to find the gentler, more effective option.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Low-level laser therapy and hyaluronic acid gel
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a better, less painful way to help children's gums heal after a tooth extraction.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 36 children, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatments are for symptom relief, not a cure for tooth decay.
