Laser boosts gum healing for smokers
NCT ID NCT07213752
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a diode laser to standard deep-cleaning treatment helps smokers with severe gum disease. Thirty-three smokers received either standard cleaning alone or cleaning plus laser. After three months, the laser group had shallower gum pockets and lower levels of a stress marker in saliva. The findings suggest laser therapy can improve gum health in smokers.
