Laser light boosts gum healing in smokers, study finds
NCT ID NCT07213752
Summary
This study tested whether adding a special laser treatment to standard deep cleaning improves gum health for smokers with severe gum disease. Thirty-three smokers received either the standard cleaning alone or the cleaning plus laser therapy. After three months, the group that received the laser showed greater improvement in gum pocket depth and a reduction in a marker of tissue stress.
