New study tests single surgery to clear bile duct stones faster
NCT ID NCT07503964
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at 100 people with gallstones that have moved into the bile duct. One group gets the usual two-step treatment: first a scope to remove the bile duct stone, then surgery to remove the gallbladder. The other group gets a single surgery where the gallbladder is removed and a small balloon is used to push the bile duct stone out at the same time. The goal is to see which approach clears the stones better, causes fewer complications, and shortens hospital stays.
