Could a quick Beta-Blocker shot save more heart muscle?
NCT ID NCT07293832
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether giving the beta-blocker landiolol early, during a heart attack, can reduce the amount of heart muscle that dies. It will follow 100 patients who get either landiolol or a standard oral beta-blocker, based on their doctor's choice. The main goal is to measure heart damage with an MRI three months later.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
landiolol (a cardio-selective beta-blocker)
What this could lead to
If results are promising, it could suggest that early landiolol use helps limit heart muscle damage after a heart attack.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a randomized trial, so results may be influenced by patient differences. The study is small (100 people) and early, so findings may not be conclusive.
