NCT ID NCT04974593
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a simple breath test can predict if a lactose-free diet will reduce symptoms in people with moderate-to-severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Researchers will compare symptom improvement between those who test positive for lactose malabsorption and those who don't. The goal is to better understand who benefits from cutting out lactose, helping personalize diet advice for IBS patients.
