First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a toothpaste and mouthwash made with lactoferrin (a natural protein) can prevent gum disease in pregnant women. Forty pregnant women in their second trimester will either use both the toothpaste and mouthwash, or just the toothpaste, along with regular dental cleanings. The goal is to see if this routine reduces dental plaque and gum inflammation over six months.
