Could a milk protein stop pregnancy gum woes?

NCT ID NCT07069140

Summary

This study is testing whether a special oral care routine using lactoferrin (a protein found in milk) in both toothpaste and mouthwash is better than just the toothpaste at preventing gum disease in pregnant women. Forty pregnant women will be randomly assigned to use one of the two routines at home while also getting regular professional cleanings. Researchers will check their gum health over six months to see which routine works better at reducing plaque and inflammation.
