Can an amino acid stop kidney stones from forming?
NCT ID NCT07465367
First seen Mar 12, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether L-methionine, a natural amino acid, can make urine more acidic in people who form calcium phosphate kidney stones. These stones tend to form when urine is too alkaline. The study involves 15 adults who will follow a special diet and take L-methionine for a short time. Researchers will measure urine pH to see if it drops enough to help prevent future stones.
