Blood test may predict painful knee stiffness after surgery

NCT ID NCT03598829

Summary

This study aimed to find out if measuring a specific enzyme in the blood (called serum mast cell tryptase) could help predict which patients might develop painful stiffness after a total knee replacement. Researchers followed 219 patients with knee osteoarthritis before and after their surgery. They checked if changes in this enzyme level were linked to the development of knee stiffness and pain.
