New study tests better way to target knee pain nerves

NCT ID NCT04472702

Summary

This study is testing which of two common imaging methods works better for guiding a treatment that uses heat to calm nerves around the knee. The goal is to reduce pain and improve movement for people with knee osteoarthritis. Researchers will compare ultrasound (which shows soft tissues) to fluoroscopy (a type of X-ray) in 90 patients whose pain hasn't improved with standard treatments. They will track pain levels and physical function for six months after the procedure.
