New study aims to cut opioid use after knee surgery with simple additives

Summary

This study tests whether adding dexamethasone or dexmedetomidine to standard numbing medicine can reduce the need for strong painkillers after knee replacement. About 96 older adults will be randomly assigned to one of three groups to compare pain relief and side effects. The goal is to improve recovery and lower opioid use.
