Knee surgery pain relief showdown: which block works best?

NCT ID NCT07433803

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two types of nerve blocks (iPACK and BiFeS) to see which one controls pain better after total knee replacement. One hundred adults having knee surgery will receive one of the two blocks with a numbing medicine (bupivacaine). Researchers will measure pain scores, how much extra pain medicine is needed, and how quickly patients can get up and move after surgery.

What this could lead to
If one block works better, it could mean less pain and quicker recovery after knee replacement surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (100 people) comparing two similar techniques. It may not show a clear winner, and results may not apply to all patients.
