Can reiki and meditation ease arthritis pain? study tests alternative options

NCT ID NCT05541718

Summary

This study tested whether Reiki (a hands-on energy therapy), mindfulness meditation, or a placebo treatment could reduce pain and improve quality of life for people with knee osteoarthritis. Researchers compared these three approaches against a waitlist group in 164 participants. Each active treatment involved 20-minute weekly sessions for four weeks in a lab setting.
