Fat cells injected into knees to fight arthritis in early safety test

NCT ID NCT03940950

Summary

This small, early-stage study from the Mayo Clinic tested whether it is safe and practical to treat knee osteoarthritis by injecting a person's own processed fat cells into the joint. Nine participants with moderate arthritis received the injection to see if it caused any serious side effects. The main goal was to check safety, not to prove if the treatment effectively reduces pain or improves the knee.
