Summary

This study tested whether personalized text messages can help young adults with type 1 diabetes feel more confident managing their condition as they move from pediatric to adult care. 234 participants received either usual care or usual care plus text message support. The goal was to see if the texts improved diabetes self-efficacy, or confidence in managing diabetes, after 12 months.
