New program aims to stop elder abuse before it starts in dementia caregiving

Summary

This study tests a program called KINDER, designed to help family caregivers of people with dementia prevent psychological elder abuse (like yelling or threatening) and improve the quality of care. Researchers will enroll 260 caregivers and randomly assign them to either the KINDER program or usual care. The goal is to see if KINDER reduces abusive behaviors and helps caregivers feel more resourceful and less strained.
