New program aims to stop elder abuse by stressed dementia caregivers

Summary

This study tests a program called KINDER, designed to help family caregivers of people with dementia reduce psychological elder abuse and improve the quality of care. About 260 caregivers will be randomly assigned to receive the KINDER training or usual care. The program focuses on lowering relationship strain and building caregiver skills to prevent harmful behaviors like yelling or threatening.
