Could a Biomarker-Guided switch in medication boost kidney transplant success?

Summary
This study involves 800 adult first-time kidney transplant recipients. Researchers will use a blood test (molecular mismatch score) to identify those at higher risk for rejection. Six months after transplant, 300 eligible participants will be randomly assigned to switch from tacrolimus to abatacept or continue standard care. The goal is to see if the switch improves kidney function, thinking skills, and quality of life over 18 months.
