Zapping kidney nerves to tame stubborn high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT02439775
Summary
This study tested if a medical procedure could safely lower blood pressure in people whose high blood pressure wasn't controlled by up to three standard medications. Doctors used a special device to disrupt tiny nerves near the kidneys, which are thought to play a role in regulating blood pressure. The goal was to see if this approach provided better blood pressure control compared to a fake procedure, while monitoring for safety issues.
