New monitor aims to predict kidney failure after major lung surgery

NCT ID NCT05836922

Summary

This study is testing a non-invasive sensor that measures oxygen levels in the kidneys during lung transplant surgery. Researchers want to see if low oxygen readings during the operation can predict which patients will develop kidney failure in the days after surgery. The goal is to gather information that could one day help doctors protect the kidneys during these complex operations.
