Scientists probe why kidney patients get more infections
NCT ID NCT06474169
Summary
This study aims to understand how chronic kidney disease affects the immune system, particularly why patients with advanced disease are more vulnerable to serious infections. Researchers will compare blood samples from 100 people across three groups: those with end-stage kidney disease, those with moderate kidney disease, and healthy individuals. The goal is to identify specific immune system weaknesses and test whether lab techniques could potentially restore immune function in the future.
