New implant aims to fix a major problem for kidney patients
NCT ID NCT05425056
Summary
This study tested a small, drug-releasing implant placed during surgery to create a dialysis access point (called a fistula). The goal was to see if the implant, compared to standard surgery, could help the fistula develop better and last longer for patients on kidney dialysis. About 136 patients aged 65+ were followed for one year after their surgery.
